A little wind

Saturday, March 23rd, 2013
Slope, Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine, 23 March 2013.

Slope.

Mostly sun today, but some cloudy periods. A little wind on the high ground—which wasn’t too evident here at my place, unlike at the summit of Beech Hill, where my cap blew off. Temperatures still a lot colder than a year ago (which had record warmth). Colder than normal, even. Saw another turkey vulture today while out doing errands. Dead gray squirrel nearby. Not sure they were related.

Forgot to mention that I snowshoed up the hill twice this past week—in the wake of the storm—before reverting to regular hiking shoes. Still pretty snowy up there, but it’s nice and packed now.

More snow in the forecast for early next week. Wonder when I’ll finally feel like breaking out my bicycle.
