First snow

The open trail, Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine, 07 November 2012.

The open trail.

A chilly day. A busy day. I worked clear up until the sun was about to go down, which—considering the cloud cover—made it kind of dark up on Beech Hill. The wind was blowing. The temperature was low. My hike with dog was swift and uneventful. We were the only ones up there other than a solitary American tree sparrow, whose chip note I heard in some bushes. I wore gloves.

Tonight, as forecast, the wind began to blow some snow around. Still happening out there now, although it’s supposed to turn to rain at some point. Rain and mixed precip tomorrow. I plan to hit the hill a bit earlier from now until the light comes back.
