Blue sky. Chilly air. A breeze. Eagle flying over low. Cardinal singing. Gull on a chimney.
Trip to Beech Hill. Windy, mostly overcast. Clattering, squeaking branches.
Hiking up fast, alone on the trail with dog.
Near the summit, I hear it first. Then I see the brown creeper.
Wind in the spruce grove. Crazy patches of sun on the hills.
Alone up there.
Returning, I hear them first. Then I see three bluebirds. Two males and a female.
Chickadees nipping at the buds of saplings.
From somewhere, a gull cries.
Moonlight tonight, poking through the clouds.
Now it’s cloudless. The moon is nearly full.
