Supposed to be sunny and warm this morning, but real windy. All those things were true.
I blame the wind—gusting to 30-plus miles an hour, is my guess—for the low number of bird species. But the hike with dog was grand. Windy, sure, but not uncomfortable, and the trail was much easier to navigate than either of the past two days.
Most notable, perhaps, were the pair of bluebirds I spotted along the wooded trail. I’ve seen a bunch down there, but in winter, with high winds, they seem to prefer that area to the open fields where their boxes are.
Many chickadees, too, and a few crows. Only a couple weeks or so until spring.
