A clear after-the-snow morning, but chilly (in the teens (F) to start). Still not too many birds on the hill—although quite a few at home—but that’s understandable. Wet snow still clinging to the foodstuffs and whatnot. Lots of cool tracks, though (mice, chipmunks, etc.), and a Hairy Woodpecker drumming.
Also a singing chickadee. The drumming and the singing make me think of spring, and my (unscientific) opinion is that the lengthening photoperiod is all a little bird needs as an excuse to start doing spring stuff. I like that plan.
Truly a beautiful day—but I’m not all that excited about the rains to come.
