Finally, snow! Snowed most of the night apparently, because when dog and I stepped out first thing, we encountered about five inches of the white stuff—and it was still coming down.
Exciting! Hadn’t seen snow in Maine in four years. So it was with much excitement that we headed up the trail (a bit late, since I wanted to shovel the drive first). And it was a delicious hike—no slipping and sliding like yesterday—with a few birds even. Well, literally three species.
The first was the best: a kinglet showed up out of nowhere and flitted about in the trees directly above us. I stopped and took maybe fifty or sixty photos of the fast-flitting bird, hoping for a decent photo—no chance.
I rarely post blurry, out-of-focus pics, but in this case, I didn’t mind.
(Also had some mallards at home.)
