Dog and I went for our hike on a day much like yesterday, with an early chill, a stout wind, and sun—only more sun this morning. Last day of fall, and with a particularly wintry feel.
What with the wind singing a low moan up in the bare oak limbs, I didn’t expect many birds, but coming up through the winds, I spied a few. And toward the summit a few more. Then returning up and over, a lonesome gull soaring in the blue.
Kind of looking forward to our first hike of winter.
