The Neighbhood Went Quiet

Neighborhood Sharp-shinned Hawk.

Cool morning, warm midday, dry weather. I think I’m noting a pattern here in Utah. I’m also noticing birds all over the place.

Not high species numbers today, since this is our off-day, dog and me. (We’ve been hiking up the mountain every other day, in case you haven’t noticed.) But noteworthy was a Sharp-shinned Hawk that showed up in a yard that, moments before, was full of House Sparrows, House Finches, and California Quail.

I didn’t see it snag anything, though.
