Today was a cold and clear one. Also windy. And busy. I took time out from this busy, windy, clear, cold day for a hike with my dog, Jack.
Heard a crow, then saw an eagle. In fact, it was Jack who first noticed the eagle, lifting over and beyond the rise ahead of us. I happened to see him raise his eyes, followed his gaze, and there the big bird was. Also saw a flicker and a chickadee.
Elsewhere, I saw or heard a few more birds.
The winter solstice approacheth.
