Ran around a lot this cold, blustery day. Colder and more blustery than yesterday. So cold, in fact, that I grabbed a winter jacket before heading over to Beech Hill with dog.
Spotted a chickadee as we pulled into the parking lot, which was devoid of any sign of human activity. The wind was whipping. No birds that I could detect—until I saw a big one, veering low above the slope a ways ahead of us. A harrier, not flapping its wings at all, just teetering and sailing and circling. I couldn’t manage a great photo of it—the wind kept interfering with my aim—but I did finally get a record of it zipping away to the southwest.
Did not stay up there long, as lovely as was the landscape.
Tonight is still, and dark, and cold.
