Icy

Chickawaukie ice boats, from Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine, 21 January 2013.

Chickawaukie ice boats.

Warm and windy and muddy yesterday, cold and breezy and ice-solid today. Temps rose into the low 20s (F) here at the coast, cooler inland. And it’s gonna get even icier, from what I understand.

Sun early, gray sky eventually. Crows stalking the roadsides. For dog and me, a late-in-the-day hike up Beech Hill.

Heard chickadee, nuthatch, and titmouse at the parking lot. Gull in overflight. Avoided slipping on the mildly treacherous trail all the way up and nearly all the way back—but took a minor header on the very last lower stretch. My dog, seeing such sport, laughed.

Light snow in the air tonight.
