Blue sky, Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine, 22 February 2012.

A few ice-fishing huts still sit on local ponds. Starting to worry about ’em a little. And, of course, the early bluebirds. Saw no bluebirds today, but I have a feeling they’re around. Heck, they’ve been around pretty much all winter—the warmest winter I can recall in my thirty-plus years in Maine. I might not be so grateful, might be lamenting lost snowshoeing days, if not for the cost of heating fuel.

After a spate of wet snow last night, today warmed swiftly. Cloudy for most of it, but a little blue sky appeared in late afternoon. Heard a singing titmouse on Beech Hill.
