Temps in the teens (F) when Captain Jack and I arrived at the wooded trailhead. Had a few bird species making noise at home, so thought maybe we’d encounter a few at the hill—and encounter we did. And a few it was.
Well, more than a few, but what with the clear, clear skies, the relatively low temps, and ice coating pretty much everything still, there wasn’t a lot for birds to eat in the open areas. But in the woods, titmice, chickadees, and nuthatches were busy. Also woodpeckers.
It was a lovely blue-sky day, perhaps a lot like tomorrow will be (but warmer, so they say).
