This afternoon working in the front room, I saw a deer go by the window. Only the second mule deer I’ve seen in the neighborhood—and he stood there a minute, looking around, before bounding between some decorative conifers, headed uphill.
This morning, a quiet hike, with only four bird species on the mountainside. (Only five total today.) Plenty of deer, of course. Warm, it was: 40° (F) or thereabouts early. Supposed to snow overnight, and it’s blowing like crazy out there—but the temperature’s up in the 50s.
Guess we’ll see.
