Yellow-rumps. Yellow-rumps everywhere.
I’ve heard the familiar dry little chips of Yellow-rumped Warblers every day for weeks. Fall migration this year is particularly full of them—more than even usual. (And they’re usually common.) I wonder if prevailing winds have blown them southeastward from Canada’s expanses. Or perhaps they fledged in record numbers.
I must say I’m fond of these hardy warblers—even when they’re everywhere. As they were this foggy morning.
