American Crow, near Clam Cove, Rockport, Maine, 23 October 2014.

American Crow.

Big rain today. Big, steady rain—with intermittent periods of some of the hardest rainfall I’ve ever experienced here on the 44th parallel. Talk about a nor’easter.

We had so much rain today, in fact, that I didn’t hike Beech Hill with Jack. Just blew it off entirely. Didn’t want to get so drenched at midday that I’d have to go home and change clothes before returning to work, and after work came one of those intermittent downpours. Then darkness came. Other than my Monhegan trips, I think the last time dog and I didn’t hike Beech Hill was July of last year, after I broke my collarbone. Huh.

Although now, tonight, the rain seems to have let up, water falling from the sky is a good thing. We are rich with water around here.

Beech Hill List
Beginning at… Wait a minute. Jack and I did not hike Beech Hill today.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
