Year-round flickers

Southwest sky (from Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 06 December 2013).

Southwest sky.

For the past couple years, I’ve seen or heard flickers at Beech Hill all winter. They’re sticking around. It occurred to me just now as I recalled hearing—then seeing—one up there this afternoon. I imagine it’ll stick around.

Beech Nut.

It was a nippy afternoon, maybe upper-30s or lower-40s (F), with a bit of a breeze. The landscape is mostly brown now, and the sky today was mostly gray.
