Yellow-rumped warbler.

The sun’s been coming up later these days, and sunset arrives earlier. Before long, sunset will arrive much earlier in the local human world—what with the switch to Daylight Savings Time. But still you’ve got birds out there flitting around, grabbing food where they can, hollering at others in their species (or other species).

Black-capped chickadee.

Lots of indoor work today, then a quick hike at the end of it. Chickadees, yellow-rumps, crows, a jay, a couple robins.

And that’s about it—well, other than a pretty spectacular few moments of angular afternoon sunlight scraping the upper slopes of hills.

And then, the darkening.
