Sprites

Birch, Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine, 15 Maine 2011.

Birch.

A busy day. Also a rainy one. Also a windy one. Temps about 40 degrees (F). I didn’t exactly have a hankering to get out in it, but there’s this thing Jack and I have to do every day. So we did.

Stump, Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine, 15 December 2011.

Stump.

No one else on Beech Hill today. I wonder why. In fact, had it not been for the faint voice of a chickadee off in the wet, windy trees somewhere, it would’ve been a birdless hike, as well. But I did get a couple photos of tiny white sprites flitting about the photogenic birch tree. They looked like tiny comets or something. Cool.

Still windy out tonight. Considering the season, it sure seems warm, though.

Beech Hill List
Beginning at 3:30 p.m., I hiked the open trail.

1. Black-capped chickadee (voice)

Elsewhere

2. American crow
3. Herring gull
