After the Storm

Canyon Wren, East Millcreek, Salt Lake City, Utah, 04 February 2020.
Canyon Wren.

White snow, bright sun, blue sky, brisk breeze, temps in the teens. Coldest day so far in Utah for me—but really rather comfy in the sun.

Soon after dog and I began our morning hike with dog, I heard the calls of a Canyon Wren. Decided to head our usual way south and maybe catch up with the wren later.

Later it was silent, but I decided to try the little sunny cliffs where I last saw the bird—and just as we were about to step off trail, he resumed calling. Made our way through deep snow to where I could peek over a rock.

There he was.
