Long-tailed Duck (none-breeding male), Rockport Harbor, Maine, 08 February 2019.
Long-tailed Duck (none-breeding male).

Above freezing and foggy this morning. Yesterday’s dusting had turned to a film of slush. Jack and I got up and down the hill without seeing or hearing a single bird—and then, at the parking lot, I heard a communicative crow.

Went to the little harbor in afternoon, about the time the clouds began to disperse. I’ve never not seen birds there.

Balmy today, cold tomorrow. Should be a high wind chill.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
