Three meteors

Jack, Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine, 13 December 2012.

Captain Jack.

Another day, another hike. I’ve had a little bit of a cold—I don’t get sick much and don’t particularly like to—and so don’t have a whole lot to write about. But I will say the world looked glorious from the summit of Beech Hill, and I saw three meteors tonight.

1. Tufted titmouse
2. Black-capped chickadee (v)

6. Herring gull

Nippy ol’ day

Hikin', Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine, 12 December 2012.

Hikin'.

A nippy ol’ morning, a nippy ol’ day. Toward the end of it, I took a hike with my dog. Saw or heard three bird species during our hike, saw three more elsewhere. And tonight, through my binoculars, I saw three Galilean moons swinging around one side of Jupiter.

Patterns in things

Hike, Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine, 11 December 2012.

Hike.

I felt a little out-of-whack today, not sure why. Puttered around at work, updated a couple websites, did a couple errands, hiked Beech Hill with Jack. Just one car there when we arrived, maybe because it was chilly—but it was a nice, bright afternoon, and a second care showed up right away. There were two little dogs in that one.

View, Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine, 11 December 2012.

View.

More or less the same species list as on recent days. Chickadees around the parking lot. A little flock of pine grosbeaks in the spruce grove up top. Coots in the pond. A couple bluebirds flying over. Titmouse back at the parking lot.

Tomorrow is 12/12/12. We like to see patterns in things.
