Lazuli Bunting (male feeding fledgling), Wasatch Range, East Millcreek, Utah, 09 August 2019.
Lazuli Bunting (male feeding fledgling).

Welp, I moved to Utah. Salt Lake City, the East Millcreek neighborhood, with steep mountain trails just up the street from my door.

Today I finally took my first hike with Captain Jack, and ended up with a life list bird: Lazuli Bunting. Had never seen one before, but I knew just what they were when I saw the dad feeding the hungry youngster.

Magpies are everywhere out here.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
