It was freezing—literally—when Jack and I headed to the hill this morning. Also, the wind was roaring like a freight train. Its rush in the remnant leaves of the hardwoods (about half of which seemed to fly loose before our eyes) and spruce didn’t let many bird sounds through. Mostly the chips of hardy yellow-rumps, but a few chickadee chatters. I did also hear a White-throated Sparrow.
I saw no gulls or pigeons or much else, as the wind kept it up all day. Oddly, this evening, I heard the hoots of a Barred Owl coming from out in the side yard.
Just a slight breeze this evening.
