Difference in a day

Sunday, December 20th, 2015
Limned, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 20 December 2015.

Limned.

What a difference a day makes: from dozens of species to two. But it was a colder one, and a windier one, and wind probably drowned out the voices of birds in the short time I spent outside.

Ornament.

Spent only about forty-five minutes out in it, in fact—Beech Hill hike late in the day. Heard only chickadees. But I saw backlit weeds in the setting sun, and a rising moon perched in a tree.

The wind died down as night fell. Early. Tomorrow being the solstice and all.

Beech Hill List
Beginning at 3:15 p.m., I hiked the open trail.

1. Black-capped Chickadee

Elsewhere

2. Mourning Dove

v = Voice only

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
