A wet one

Sweet routine, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 17 December 2015.

Sweet routine.

It didn’t pour. It didn’t ever even rain steadily for long—if at all. But it drizzled steadily. All day.

Beech leaves, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 17 December 2015.

Beech leaves.

I worked on a typographic ornament for most of it, then grabbed Jack and we took off. Windshield wipers on kind of a fast intermittent.

I was honestly surprised to find anyone else at Beech Hill today, but there were five cars in the parking lot when we arrived. Five. On the way up, we ran into one bundled-up hiker coming down—but I never did find anyone else on the preserve. When we got back (didn’ t take us long this day), all the cars were gone. Hmmm.

Drizzled clear into evening and beyond. Not very cold, though, still.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
