The whitening

Saturday, February 13th, 2016
Beech Nut, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 13 February 2016.

Big snow.

Last night, out a front window, I watched snow swirl around the amber streetlight. Some forecasters were predicting a big snow, others moderate. This early morning I saw small flakes swirling, but it didn’t look like too deep. Didn’t let up, though, and by the time dog and I headed out, I had to take a broom to the truck.

Nobody else on the hill. No people, no dogs, no birds, no animals—nothing but snow flakes and weed stubble and obscure blue distance.

But Jack loves the deep, fresh snow—bounding around in it. Today was fun, lovely, wintry.

Tomorrow: wind chill.
