This morning I took my pickup to the mechanic, whose shop sits not far beyond the parking lot of the lower (wooded) Beech Hill trail. I decided just to walk back—a distance of two miles or so. Here’s what-all I saw or heard (approx. 8:15–8:45 a.m.).

Black-throated green warbler (voice)
Red-eyed vireo (voice)

Gray catbird (voice)
Cedar waxwing (voice)
Herring gull
Black-capped chickadee (voice)
Tufted titmouse (voice)
White-throated sparrow (voice)
