Walked the wooded trail.
Another lovely morning. Not very far along the upper wooded trail I heard a call I’d never heard on the hill before: a repeated, single, loud, descending coo. It was coming from the upper reaches of an oak tree, up in the leaves. I couldn’t see the bird. So I waited. After a few minutes, it moved its perch a bit and I managed to find a window through which to snap a photo. I’d seen black-billed cuckoos on the hill, but this was my first yellow-bill.
