Snowed today. An inch or so before turning to drizzle this evening. At the height of it, in mid-afternoon, I hiked Beech Hill with Jack. Right away, there were chickadees, but no other birds that I could see or hear—until we got about half-way up the hill, when I heard the chip notes of yellow-rumped warblers. Two or three of them, sounded like. One flitted right up alongside the trail, though it was a little tricky getting a photo of it, what with all the snowflakes blowing in my eyes.
At the summit, all was pale and white and clean. Wind and light, wind-whipped snow.
Returning down the trail, with the wind and snow at our back, again I heard the chips of yellow-rumps. No chickadees, though.
