When dog and I began our hike this morning, the temperature was about 18° (F). No wind to speak of, but clouds soon obscured the rising sun, which gave the air a little wintry edge. Not sure if that’s why, but birds were few and far between.
Deer were about, at higher elevations than in recent days, but the only bird I spied was a high-flying eagle. Dang, was it quiet. The sun finally did reemerge late in our return—and then it stayed for the rest of the day.
Another chilly hike awaits us in the morning. Meanwhile, Maine’s having another lusty winter storm.
