Smoke

Sunday, December 31st, 2017
Sea smoke, from Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 31 December 2017.

Sea smoke.

The temperature first thing this sunny morning hovered a couple degrees below zero (F). When I first stepped out, I heard the spring song of a Tufted Titmouse—and spotted the bird looking chipper and hopeful as it sang.

Excursion.

On the hill, I saw only a handful of distant crows. Sea smoke littered the blue gray bay.
