Sky Sightings

Sunday, December 3rd, 2017
American Crow, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 03 December 2017.

American Crow.

A clear, calm mid-morning, with temperatures in the low 30s (F). Most of my bird sightings were of the “flying away” variety—and then the day ended with a big, full supermoon.

White-throated Sparrow, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 14 November 2017.

White-throated Sparrow.

First trace of snow this morning. Brisk hike with Jack. Saw my first American Tree Sparrow of the season—but missed a good chance at a photo. In fact, my only bird pic from today is this blurry one of a White-throated Sparrow. (I swear that’s what it is.)

Yellow-rumped Warbler, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 09 November 2017.

Yellow-rumped Warbler.

This bright, frosty early morning hike started off very quiet—which was not altogether disappointing—but ended up with another flock of bluebirds (larger than yesterday’s), attended by a group of Yellow-rumped Warblers, some chickadees, and a random House Finch.
