I most enjoyed
my time attempting to photograph

at play with my companion.

Cedar Waxwing, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 17 August 2017.

Cedar Waxwing.

Scores of waxwings fluttered about the hill this morning, chasing flies. A wind blew, so the swarms floated diffusely, so the birds wheeled and hovered, flycatching. At the summit I spied a couple phoebes and heard the notes of a Least Flycatcher.

Serenaded by Broad-winged Hawks

Yellow-rumped Warbler, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 16 August 2017.

Yellow-rumped Warbler, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 16 August 2017.

Today on the hill, through about half our morning hike, Jack and I walked with Broad-winged Hawks. In particular, two or three young broadwings—screaming, circling high-high. I felt a feeling akin to being blessed.

However, I did get a fair photo of a one of a couple of Yellow-rumped Warblers, flitting around in the tips of the summit spruce grove.

What a day.
