Chickadees and Buntings

Black-capped Chickadee, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 07 November 2017.

Black-capped Chickadee.

I had a conversation with a little gang of Black-capped Chickadees this nippy morning at Beech Hill. I always have conversations with chickadees—any time I see ’em. We understand each other.

I also encountered—for the third time this fall—Snow Buntings. Well, today, just one bunting, although I did spook two or three a few days back. I hear we’re supposed to get a little dusting of snow soon. Maybe.

Well, surely we will… eventually.

Yellow-rumped Warbler, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 14 October 2017.

Yellow-rumped Warbler.

A road race that ended at Beech Nut happened this gray early morning, and I didn’t manage to list many birds early, so Jack and I returned this sunny afternoon to list a few more. As usual this fall, the numbers were mostly Yellow-rumped Warblers. ’Rumps were everywhere.

Northern Flicker, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 13 October 2017.

Northern Flicker.

Missed photographing the Northern Harrier that appeared out of nowhere (as they typically do) this morning on the hill. But I did manage a photo of a flicker by simply standing there for a while.
