Mallards

Wednesday, January 10th, 2018
Mallard (male), Rockport Harbor, Maine, 10 December 2018.

Mallard (male).

Activity on the hill today, as crews were doing routine winter maintenance work—pruning deadfall, digging up Oriental Bittersweet. Lovely blue-sky day, lovely hike with Jack.

In afternoon, we stopped off at Rockport’s public landing to watch the winter Mallards there. A great flock, mostly hanging out on the undulating harbor ice.

We might be in for an early January thaw.
