Sun and flurries

Thursday, February 27th, 2014
Sun flurry, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 27 February 2014.

Sun flurry.

Much like yesterday, today was cold, with sun and clouds and snow. And snow fell when the sun was out.

Still no rainbows, though.

Snow-showery day

Saddle and Mark Islands

I kept looking up expecting to see rainbows. We had sun early, and then clouds moved in, and it would begin to flurry, and then the sun would break through again while it was snowing, and this pattern repeated itself several times throughout the middle part of the day. Kind of cold out, but birds were out and about—at least during the errands Jack and I ran.

Vinalhaven, from Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 26 February 2014.

Vinalhaven.

At Beech Hill, though, the only birds I saw were three crows down the southeastern slope, a pair of flickers at the base of the eastern slope, and a couple of gulls circling out toward the bay. A little sunlight made its way through as a passing flurry whipped tiny flakes about dog and me.

Just one of those interesting, snow-showery winter days.

Cold one

Beech Nut, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 25 February 2014.

Beech Nut.

Woke up, got out of bed, took a shower, ate breakfast, did some desk work, took a break, hiked a lonesome Beech Hill with Jack and heard a solitary crow. Damn, wasn’t it a cold one up there.
